BYD
Phuket's #1 BYD Service Expert. Mobile 12V battery replacement for Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal. Stuck at hotel? System won't start? We arrive in 30 mins.
Rental car won’t start? System screen black? You might be surprised to learn that even though your BYD Atto 3, Dolphin, or Seal has a massive High-Voltage battery pack (Blade Battery), it still relies on a small, old-school 12V auxiliary battery to boot up the computer.
If this small 12V battery dies (which happens often in rental cars that sit idle), your high-tech EV becomes a brick. You cannot open the doors, start the system, or shift gears.
EV Phuket is here to save your trip. We specialize in Mobile 12V Battery Replacement for all BYD models.
Why Choose EV Phuket for Your BYD?
We are not just a random battery shop. We understand the specific electrical systems of BYD Electric Vehicles.
- 30-Minute Arrival: Stuck at your hotel in Patong, Kata, or a remote beach? We come to you fast.
- Correct Specs: BYD cars require specific DIN-type batteries (often DIN45 or DIN60) with high CCA. Using the wrong one can mess up the sensors.
- Memory Saver: We use an OBD II Memory Saver to ensure your car’s settings and infotainment data aren’t lost during the swap.
- Rental-Friendly Prices: We offer fair, transparent pricing. Cheaper than the official dealer and much faster.

Technical Deep Dive: Blade Battery vs. 12V Battery
Many owners are confused about why their car has two batteries.
- The Blade Battery (HV): This is the massive slab under the floor. It powers the electric motor and AC. It’s Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) and is extremely durable.
- The Auxiliary Battery (12V): This is a standard lead-acid battery under the hood (in most Atto 3 units exported to Thailand). It powers the ECU, Door Locks, Lights, Windows, and Airbags.
- The Critical Link: If the 12V dies, the computer dies. The computer cannot tell the HV battery to “turn on”. Therefore, the whole car is dead. This is why keeping the 12V healthy is safer than having a full charge on the Blade Battery.
BYD Warranty in Thailand: What covers the battery?
Rever Automotive (the distributor) offers an 8-Year warranty on the High Voltage Battery. However, the 12V Auxiliary Battery usually only has a 1-Year Warranty.
- If your car is older than 12 months and the small battery dies, you must pay for it yourself.
- EV Phuket Price vs Dealer Price: We are significantly cheaper and we come to you. The dealer often requires you to tow the car to them (which is a nightmare if the parking brake is stuck on).
”My BYD Won’t Start!” - Troubleshooting Guide
Before you panic (or call the rental company), check these signs:
- Key Fob: Does the car unlock? If not, try using the physical mechanical key inside the fob to open the door.
- Screen: Is the rotating screen black or blank? A low 12V battery often kills the infotainment first.
- Error Message: Does the dash say “12V Battery Low - Please Ready System”? This is the final warning.
What NOT to do:
- Do NOT try to jump-start it with a random motorbike battery.
- Do NOT tow the car with wheels on the ground (It can damage the regenerative braking motor).
- Do NOT pour water on the battery.

Prevent 12V Battery Drain (Tips for Rentals)
If you are renting a BYD in Phuket for a week or two:
- Drive it daily: Even a 20-minute drive to 7-Eleven helps top up the 12V battery from the main HV pack.
- Turn it off properly: Make sure the “READY” light is OFF and the car is locked when you leave.
- Don’t leave doors ajar: This keeps the internal computer awake, draining the 12V battery rapidly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can you jump-start a BYD Atto 3? A: Yes, but you must use the designated jump points under the hood (usually covered by a red cap), NOT directly on the battery terminals if they are hard to reach. We recommend letting a pro do it to avoid sparking near sensitive electronics.
Q: Does the main big battery charge the small 12V battery? A: Yes, via a DC-DC converter. But only when the “High Voltage Contactors” are closed (i.e., when the car is in READY mode or charging). If the car sits off, the 12V does not get charged.
Q: How much does a new 12V battery cost for BYD? A: Prices start from approx 2,500 THB for a standard MF battery, including delivery and installation.
