MG
Mobile 12V battery replacement for MG ZS EV, MG 4, and MG EP in Phuket. Fast, affordable roadside assistance for rental EVs. Call 098-168-9907.
MG is one of the most popular EV brands for car rentals in Thailand due to its affordability and range. Whether you are driving the MG ZS EV SUV, the sporty MG 4, or the practical MG EP Station Wagon, they all share one common weakness: The 12V Auxiliary Battery.
If you are a tourist or expat in Phuket and your MG won’t unlock or start, don’t worry. It’s likely just a dead 12V battery, and EV Phuket can fix it on the spot.
Common MG EV Problems We Fix
1. The “Key Not Detected” Issue
You press the start button, but the dashboard says “Key Not Detected” or the car refuses to go into “Ready” mode.
- Cause: Often caused by a weak 12V battery (voltage below 11.5V) confusing the immobilizer system.
- Fix: We check the battery health and replace it if necessary.
2. Gear Selector Stuck
You cannot shift from “P” to “D” or “R”. The rotary gear knob might not even pop up (in some models).
- Cause: The gear shift actuator runs on 12V. Low power = No shifting.
- Fix: Jump-start to get you moving, or replace the battery for a permanent fix.
3. Alarm Going Off Randomly
Does your MG alarm start honking for no reason?
- Cause: A dying 12V battery often triggers the anti-theft system as voltage fluctuates.
Our MG Battery Services
We stock the Specific DIN-Type Batteries that MG cars require.
- MG ZS EV: Uses a DIN45 or DIN60 (depending on year). We upgrade it to a high-performance Amaron or Varta for better heat resistance.
- MG 4 Electric: Rear-wheel drive fun, but sensitive electronics. We use exact-spec replacements.
- MG EP / ES: The workhorse station wagon. We provide durable batteries for long-distance drivers.
Why call us instead of the Dealer?
- Speed: We come to you (Home/Hotel/Roadside) in ~30 mins. Dealer tow trucks take hours.
- Price: Our batteries are up to 40% cheaper than the official MG service center.
- 24/7 Availability: MG centers close at 5 PM. We are on standby day and night.
DIY Fix: How to Reset the MG Infotainment Screen
MGs are notorious for their infotainment screens freezing, which can sometimes drain the battery if they get stuck in a “boot loop”. If your screen is frozen or black:
- Hold the ‘Home’ button (physical button or touch icon) for 15 seconds.
- Wait for the MG Logo to reappear.
- If that fails, you might need a “Hard Reset” by disconnecting the negative terminal of the 12V battery for 2 minutes (Call us if you are unsure how to do this safely).
MG Roadside Assistance vs. EV Phuket
If you bought a new MG, you likely have “MG Passion Service” roadside assistance.
- MG Official: Great for big mechanical failures (Motor/Gearbox). They will tow you to the nearest dealer. Downside: You might wait 2-3 hours for a tow truck, and then days for a repair booking.
- EV Phuket: Best for Battery & Tire issues. We don’t tow; we fix it right there. You drive away in 30 minutes.
- Ideal for: Dead 12V battery, flat tire, unknown software glitches requiring a restart.
Tourist Rental Tips: Driving an MG in Phuket
- Charging: MG uses the CCS2 standard. You can charge at PTT EV Station, PEA Volta, or EleX points across Phuket.
- Hills: Phuket is hilly (especially Patong Hill). The MG ZS EV handles it well, but keep an eye on your range if you are pushing it hard uphill.
- Regenerative Braking (KERS): Set KERS to level 3 (Heavy) when driving down mountains to recover energy and save your brake pads.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: My MG ZS EV is dead. Can I jump-start it? A: Yes. Open the bonnet (hood). For the ZS EV, the 12V battery is usually visible on the right side. Connect Red to (+), Black to a metal ground point. Do not reverse polarity or you will blow the main fuse.
Q: How long does the 12V battery last in an MG? A: In Thailand’s hot climate, usually 18-24 months. If it’s a rental car that sits often, it might fail even sooner (12 months).
Q: Do you accept credit cards? A: We accept Cash and Thai QR Payment (Scan). For credit cards, please inform us in advance so we can send a payment link.
