Mai Khao’s appeal is how quiet it is. That is also the problem: when your car won’t start here, there is almost nothing around you. The nearest garages and battery shops are several kilometres away in Thalang town.

Why Batteries Die So Often at Mai Khao

Mai Khao is five-star resort territory. Guests typically stay 5-7 nights, drive a rental from the airport, then leave it parked because the resort has everything on site.

Phuket Airport sits right beside Mai Khao. Leaving a car in long-term parking for 5-10 days while you fly out is a reliable way to come back to a flat battery — especially on modern cars whose control modules never fully sleep.

Rental Car Dead at Mai Khao? Read This First
Most visitors at Mai Khao are in a rental. If the battery is flat, don’t only call the rental company. Their recovery vehicles are usually based at the airport or in town and commonly take one to two hours.
The fastest sequence:
- Call us first — we arrive in 20-30 minutes and can jump start you on the spot.
- Notify the rental company in parallel — so there’s a record that the fault was with the vehicle, not your usage.
- If the battery is genuinely dead — we issue a full receipt you can claim back from the rental company.

Tips If You Park at Mai Khao Regularly
- Parking more than 5 days? Run the engine for 15-20 minutes every 3-4 days, or disconnect the negative terminal if it’s over two weeks.
- Clean the terminals every 3 months if you park near the water, then apply a protective terminal spray.
- Catch the warning signs — slow cranking, headlights dimming as you start, weak air-con at idle. All mean the battery is near the end.
- Flying out? If you’re leaving the car at the airport for several days, call us to check the voltage beforehand. That check is free.
