Geely EX2 Battery Replacement Cost Phuket ฿2,800 | 12V Guide 2026

Short answer: replacing the Geely EX2’s 12V auxiliary battery costs ฿2,800 - ฿3,200 in Phuket, fitted, including the reset. The 39.4 kWh traction pack is a separate component under long-term warranty and is not why your EX2 won’t start.

Geely EX2 Specifications (Thailand)

ItemSpec
Traction battery39.4 kWh
Range395 km (NEDC)
Real-world rangearound 310 km
DC fast charging1.66C capable; roughly 30-80% in about 25 minutes

Price (2026)฿429,990 (Pro) / ฿459,990 (Max)

At launch the EX2 came in at ฿399,990-429,990, which is what made it one of the most talked-about small EVs in Thailand. The 2026 update brought the faster 1.66C charging and Flyme Auto 2.0.

About the 12V Battery — An Honest Note

Geely does not publish the EX2’s 12V auxiliary battery specification in its Thai or international materials, and it isn’t listed in the public spec sheets. Anyone quoting you an exact Ah figure for an EX2 online is guessing.

What we can tell you accurately:

  • It is an auxiliary lead-acid battery of AGM or EFB type, as used across Geely’s electric models.
  • It sits under the front bonnet, alongside the 70-litre frunk area.
  • In Phuket it typically lasts 18-24 months.
  • We identify the exact size and terminal layout on site before fitting, which is why we quote a range rather than a single part number.

We would rather tell you that than invent a number. If a shop quotes an exact spec sight-unseen for this model, ask them where it came from.

Why the 12V Matters More Than the Big Battery

The 39.4 kWh pack moves the car. The 12V wakes it: computers, door locks, and the contactors that connect the traction pack to everything else.

When the 12V dies, an EX2 with 300 km of range showing becomes completely immobile — and, critically, you cannot charge your way out of it, because the car can’t wake up to negotiate with the charger.

Why Phuket Is Hard on the EX2’s 12V

Heat. Under-bonnet temperatures pass 60°C on an afternoon. As a rough rule battery life halves for every 10°C above 25°C, which is why 18-24 months is realistic here against 3-4 years in cooler markets.

Always-on electronics. Flyme Auto, telematics and the alarm keep waking the car while parked. Five to seven days without charging is enough on a 12V that’s already halfway through its life.

Salt air. Terminal corrosion raises resistance until the car can’t draw enough current to wake, even with charge left in the battery.

What to Do When Your EX2 Won’t Wake Up

1. Use the mechanical key. The fob contains a metal blade for the driver’s door.

2. Don’t jump start it from another car yourself. You’ll find generic Geely advice online telling you to clamp onto another car and rev it. That advice is written for petrol Geelys. On an EV, the low-voltage system is far less tolerant of voltage spikes, and a mistake can take out control modules costing many times the battery.

3. Don’t leave it flat for days. A discharged AGM sulphates permanently. Days matter.

4. Get a proper 12V jump or replacement. We carry surge-protected boosters sized for EV systems.

Our jump start service covers cars only — we do not service motorcycles or scooters.

The EX2 and Atto 1 are the closest match on paper — near-identical battery size and range, with the EX2 slightly cheaper and the Atto 1 backed by BYD’s larger service network in Thailand. Running costs on the 12V side are the same.

Making the 12V Last

  • Parking more than 5 days? Leave it plugged in, or wake and drive it for 20 minutes every 4-5 days. The DC-DC converter only tops up the 12V when the car is on or charging.
  • Clean the terminals every 3 months if you park near the water.
  • Replace proactively at 20-24 months.
  • Get the charging system checked at the same time — if the DC-DC is under-delivering, a new battery won’t fix it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Geely EX2 battery replacement cost?

The 12V auxiliary battery costs ฿2,800 - ฿3,200 in Phuket, including fitting, reset and call-out. The 39.4 kWh traction pack is a separate component under long-term warranty and is not a routine replacement.

What battery does the Geely EX2 use?

The traction pack is 39.4 kWh, giving 395 km NEDC. The 12V auxiliary battery is an AGM or EFB lead-acid unit; Geely does not publish its exact specification, so we identify the size on site.

What is the Geely EX2 battery price in Thailand?

The car itself is ฿429,990 for the Pro and ฿459,990 for the Max as of 2026. If you mean the 12V replacement, that’s ฿2,800 - ฿3,200 fitted.

Where is the 12V battery on a Geely EX2?

Under the front bonnet, near the frunk area. Roadside replacement takes about 20-30 minutes.

My EX2 shows plenty of range but won’t start. Why?

It’s the 12V, not the traction pack. The 12V closes the contactors that connect the main battery. If it’s flat, the car can’t wake up to use the energy it’s holding, and it can’t start charging either.

How long does the EX2’s 12V battery last in Phuket?

Typically 18-24 months, versus 3-4 years in cooler climates. Heat is the dominant factor.
