EVTEC (Switzerland) — Pro 7 kW, ฿15,000-20,000. The value pick. Solid European build, has an app, plain looking.
Schneider Electric — EVlink Wallbox, ฿20,000-32,000. Strong brand, smart energy management, long warranty. Installation is more involved.
BYD original wall charger — ฿12,000-15,000. Cheapest option, pairs neatly with BYD cars, but no smart features. Fine if you just want to charge.
The Installation Process
Step 1: electrical survey (1-2 days)
Check whether your meter can take the extra load; whether the distribution board has a free breaker slot; whether the main cable is adequately sized; and whether proper grounding exists.
Common problems in older Phuket houses:
- Old wiring that needs replacing
- A full breaker box needing expansion
- No proper grounding — this one is not optional. A 7 kW charger on an ungrounded circuit in a humid coastal climate is a genuine safety hazard, not a technicality.
Step 2: choose the location
Good: close to where you park (cable run under 5 m), under cover, on a solid wall, near the breaker box.
