The 47th Bangkok International Motor Show ran from 25 March to 5 April 2026 at IMPACT Challenger, Muang Thong Thani, under the theme “The Iconic Synchronicity.”
It arrived at an unusually loaded moment. EV3 had expired, EV3.5 had cut the subsidy to ฿50,000 for locally assembled cars only, and Chinese brands had just raised Thai prices — the Dolphin by 33%, the Atto 3 by 21%. The show was where all of that met the public.
The launches that mattered
Tesla Model Y L — the six-seat, long-wheelbase Model Y made its Southeast Asian debut here at ฿1,999,000, making Thailand the third market in the world to get it after China and Australia/New Zealand. → Tesla Model Y L in Thailand
Honda e:N2 — Honda priced its new electric SUV at ฿1,429,000, alongside the sixth-generation Prelude and the Super EV Concept on the stand. → Honda’s four new models for 2026
Zeekr X 2026 — the facelifted compact SUV arrived weeks after its European debut, with up to 496 PS, 415 km WLTP and 230 kW DC charging. → Zeekr X 2026
Toyota Hilux Travo and Travo-e — Toyota’s ninth-generation pickup, including its first electric version, was unveiled in Thailand. → Toyota Hilux Travo EV
How to read motor show pricing
The Bangkok show is not a display event. It is the single largest booking window in the Thai calendar, and the pricing behaves accordingly.
Show discounts are real and large. BYD’s Atto 3 came down ฿80,000 from list during the 2026 show, and the Premium trim went from ฿799,900 to ฿669,900 — a ฿130,000 difference. These are not rounding errors.
But the discount is not the whole comparison. Free insurance, a home charger with installation, warranty length and — critically — whether the warranty transfers to the next owner are all worth real money that never appears in the headline number.
Read the delivery condition. Campaign pricing is frequently tied to taking delivery by a specific date, not to the booking date. The Geely EX2 campaign is the clearest recent example: bookings had to convert to deliveries by February 2026 to keep the terms. → What caught EX2 buyers out
Confirm local assembly. Under EV3.5 the subsidy applies only to cars assembled in Thailand with packs of 50 kWh or larger. Several brands sell both CKD and imported versions of the same nameplate.
The question worth asking on the stand
Not “how much off?” but “will this brand have a service centre and parts near me in five to eight years?”
Thailand has already had that question answered the hard way. NETA’s parent entered restructuring and its service network contracted, and the used market for those cars effectively stopped — not because the cars were bad, but because nobody could price the parts risk.
